  • Acupuncture (may include needles, seeds, electronic or laser stimulation)
  • Moxibustion
  • Body work (muscular release similar to massage)

  • Herbal and Dietary therapies.

It is a whole person approach to health and healing, balancing and unblocking the energies within our bodies in order to restore wellbeing and vitality.

We offer a variety of therapies. Below is a list of our specialized treatments:

Frequency Specific Microcurrent (FSM)

Microcurrent is 1000x less current than a standard TENS unit delivers,
less than 1000 hertz, so sensation is so gentle as to not be felt.

The Frequencies are Specific, because each organ, tissue type, virus,
bacterium, and condition, resonates with a different vibrational
frequency. This system employs frequency pairs: one for the condition, and one
for the affected tissue, for instance Inflammation with Spinal Cord.
Pairs are usually used in a sequence, addressing all conditions and
frequencies that might affect a given condition to be treated.  Some
of these sequences are pre-written protocols, and some are written
while the patient is undergoing therapy, with the practitioner’s hand
deciphering the body’s response, waiting for the tissues to relax when
the best pairs are applied.

A detailed intake is necessary to ensure that all involved tissues
might be addressed.  The patient is made comfortable after a thorough
medical history is taken.  Microcurrent is applied through use of
sticky electrode pads, or warm damp towels, surrounding the area of
focus.  The body’s response is measured through the practitioner’s
touch and patient’s subjective account.  Pain scale questioning may be
applied.

FSM has ben shown to increase cellular ATP (energy) production by
500%.  It has been documented to improve healing of fractures and
wounds.  Patients report considerable pain relief and a markedly calmer, milder stress response.

Herbal therapy

Herbal therapy begins with a detailed consultation and Chinese medical diagnosis. Herbs may be dispensed in raw, or bulk form, with the dried herbs in their natural root, leaf, twig and berry state. This is often the most effective, least expensive, and most time consuming of our options. The formula is made for the individual’s specific complaints on the day of the office visit, and the patient is required to boil the herbs into a tea which they drink daily. I prefer the taste of these herbs to the powdered variety.  We have a complete Raw Herb Pharmacy.

Some of these formulas can be very effective in smaller, ground doses, which can help minimize preparation times and expense.

Powdered herbs have already been boiled and dried into an instant, just-add-water tea. They can be modified to address all the patient’s symptoms. They are easy to prepare, wherever you have hot water, but can taste bad and are more expensive. You can either drink a small, concentrated amount, or further dilute your prescription with more water. If you still find drinking the preparation difficult, ask your herbalist if you can add honey or follow your tea with some raisins.  We can have a local pharmacy prepare your formula, or have one shipped to your door.

The small dose required with herbal tinctures is very easy to take. As they are prefabricated, they are relatively expensive, and less specific to the individual’s complaints. Sometimes the formula will be a perfect fit.

Herbal patent pills are a simple way to aid your health. The Chinese form can be very inexpensive. Modern formulas from the US can be more highly adapted to contemporary illnesses, are more thoroughly quality controlled, and therefore more expensive.

Bach Flower Remedies are fully customized homeopathic drops which subtly treat emotional or behavioral issues extremely effectively.

Our office is stocked with a full range of homeopathic remedies based on the school of Homotoxicology. This is a gentle medicine which meshes wonderfully with other treatments including Western pharmaceuticals.  We stock Desert Biologics (Desbio).

We also stock a small variety of essential nutritional supplements, including Functional Medicine brands such as Biotics Research and Apex Energetics.

Detoxification

We provide a number of Detoxification methods available to help our patients, including:

Tung’s Points

Tung’s Points are a series of more than 200 additional, highly focused and effective acupoints, in which Dr. MacKesson has had extensive training.

Tong Ren

Tong Ren is a highly focused energy healing utilizing acupuncture principles either with or without needles. Channel blockages are addressed, emphasizing nerve and arterial supply, venous return, and endocrine output. Developed by Tom Tam of Quincy, MA, this unique system has had amazing results with severe, chronic cases and cancers. Healing sessions can be private, communal, or distant, meaning the individual seeking help need not be present.

There is a widespread international network of Tong Ren practitioners and group workshops called “Guinea Pig Classes.” Lynn MacKesson and Van Brown previously ran one of these weekly healing workshops in Gales Ferry, CT. They have every intention of getting another workshop together when schedules permit.

Please let us know if you would like to join a group.

Zen Shiatsu

Zen Shiatsu fluidly combines acupressure with stretching.  Treatments may be on a floor mat, or massage table.

Tuina

An aggressive Chinese body work used here most often to address knots and spasms.

Reconnective Healing

Reconnective Healing provides a unique and powerful energy therapy.

The Reconnection

In a set of two sessions, the Reconnection permanently realigns your acupuncture channels with those of the earth and universe.

Integrative Energy Technique

A deeply soothing session employing spiritual help to release pent-up emotions within specific body locations.  Ideal for those under heavy emotional strain.

ELR: Energy-Light Facial Rejuvenation

Full Facial Rejuvenation involves a commitment to twelve 90-minute treatments.  Each session is a deeply relaxing facial.  This is a process during which you may also receive standard acupuncture and herbal treatments, so that you will not only find yourself looking younger and healthier, but you WILL be healthier and more balanced.

Hight quality Atzen face care products, Microcurrent and Colored Light therapies are applied to your face and neck.  Your jaw and cheek-bones will be sculpted, acupuncture points will also be addressed.  You may well notice a change during your first treatment, but this change will become more apparent with multiple treatments.  Your friends will notice that you look well, but may be unable to define how (such comments as “Did you change your hair?” are often heard).  You will not look as though you have been through a face-lift or Botox.  You will look healthier, younger, better balanced, with a glowing complexion and a sparkle in your eyes.

MIcrocurrent and Colored Light therapy o

Oriental Medicine includes:

  • Acupuncture (may include needles, seeds, electronic or laser stimulation)
  • Moxibustion
  • Body work (Zen Shiatsu, Tuina: muscular release similar to massage)
  • Cupping
  • Exercise

We also stock a small variety of essential nutritional supplements.

Zen Shiatsu

An aggressive Chinese body work used here most often to address knots and spasms.
